Hi, I'm Summer.
I'm a mom of three boys, originally from Mesa, Arizona, and now living in the Utah mountains. Before this whole blog thing, I worked in events, where I learned that the difference between a good party and a great one almost always comes down to whether the food works.
That's what Summer & Cinnamon is about.
I kept getting the same questions from friends and family every time a party was coming up: How much food do I actually need? How many appetizers per person? Is this enough salad? The answers existed, but they were buried in catering manuals and scattered across forums in language nobody could use. So I started writing them down in real numbers, with calculators that do the math for you and charts you can screenshot before you head to the store.
Around here, you'll find two kinds of content:
- Comfort Food Recipes — the kind I make for my own family most nights. Sourdough, desserts, weeknight dinners, and the holiday classics that get requested every year.
- Party Planning Guides & Calculators — exact amounts for every dish at every guest count, built on real catering math and tested at real parties.
My quality promise: Every recipe gets tested in my own kitchen, and every calculator gets checked against multiple sources before it goes live. If a number doesn't add up or a recipe doesn't deliver, it doesn't make it on the site.
And nothing here stays frozen in time. I revisit guides and calculators regularly — portion sizes shift, products change, what used to be "enough" sometimes isn't, and I'd rather update a number than leave you with the wrong one.
Outside the kitchen, you'll find me in the mountains with my family, staying active, and figuring out new ways to bring people together over a good meal. Thanks for being here — let's plan something good.
